Jong-Suk Ro received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Seoul National University(SNU), Seoul, Korea, in 2008 and the B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Han-Yang University, Seoul, Korea, in 2001.

Currently, he is an Associate Professor of the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea. In 2014, he was with the University of BATH, Bath, as UK an Academic Visitor. From 2013 to 2016, he worked with the Brain Korea 21 Plus, SNU, as a BK Assistant Professor. He conducted research at the Electrical Energy Conversion System Research Division of the Korea Electrical Engineering & Science Research Institute as a Researcher in 2013. From 2012 to 2013, he was with the Brain Korea 21 Information Technology of SNU, as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. He conducted research at the R&D center of Samsung Electronics as a Senior Engineer from 2008 to 2012.

His research interests include the analysis and optimal design of next-generation electrical machines using smart materials such as electromagnet, piezoelectric, magnetic shape memory alloy, and et al..
